Why Encourage Your Children To Read
The mind of the growing child can go as far as he wants to go. The child's imagination is limitless in the places that he could travel, with the people he meets along the journey and for all the things he could discover. A famous writer mentioned that there are two great things that can happen during your lifetime. First is the day that you were born and second, the day that you discover. Discovering is one significant experience. It is a product of a child's curiosity and therein, new skills are acquired and new things are learned. The discovery process can transpire in different ways for different stages of human development. In fact, even adults discover one thing after another over the course of going through the adulthood stage. It just would not stop.
Reading can take him from one place to another and can transform him from one character to another. However, the child's imagination is not the only aspect that can be developed. By starting to expose them to books at an early age, children can gain more than any parent could imagine. Children can surprise their parents with how much they have learned from books over the course of time. Notice the following effects of reading books to children.
As children progress in the academe, children who've maintain reading at home will have a better grasp for writing and concentration. They perform better than children who normally have not been reading at home. They also have a better grasp for elusive ideas, those that are typically difficult to define or comprehend. Since reading can give them new information, it can also lead to discovery of new hobbies, new interests or new passion. If this can start at an early age, these children can enjoy a long time to try different projects one at a time. The involvement of these and the contribution that one makes along the course of time will lead to a more acceptable aging process. These children can lead more fulfilling lives in adulthood. Empathy is another attribute that they could learn; putting oneself in another person's shoes and not only sympathizing at them but also speaking in their own terms. They are more open-minded and resilient to problems that would normally affect schoolwork. This is because they are more adept to sort out relevant and irrelevant information whichever should be treated important or not to one's understanding.
Teaching this to kids can be quite challenging for parents but for those who have had similar experiences during their childhood they will find so much passion in passing on to their kids the hobby or interest of reading books. Moreover, they understand why children should learn to develop a huge interest for books. Books can be fascinating at all kinds and children's books can help a child turn one ordinary hometown which he is used to seeing everyday to Peter Pan's Neverland or he could turn the amazing sight of waves on a beach to the huge ship of Hook, the pirate Captain.
