Six Things You Can Do With Audiobooks That You Can't With Traditional Books
Welcome to the world of multitasking. With audiobooks, you now find yourself less constrained by space and time, as you spend your precious minutes “hitting many birds with one stone.” If you are not convinced yet of the convenience audiobooks has to offer, check out the following list and discover the things you can do with audiobooks that you can't with traditional books.
• Breastfeed your baby. Holding a book and flipping its pages are entirely out of the question, as you use both hands to cradle your little one. During the first few occasions, just ogling at your baby can be entertaining. However, when you begin to get used to the routine and need some other sources of entertainment, try audiobooks.
• Buy groceries. Push your cart, check your grocery list from time and time, and select the items you need in the grocery store. Audiobooks will not distract you from your grocery list and will not require you to pour your concentration on one material. Through passive listening and immersion, you may even learn some foreign-language phrases by the time you pay for your purchases.
• Clean the house. Do what you must do: empty the trash bin, scrub the toilet, wipe the sink, wash the dishes, vacuum the carpet, polish the wooden floor and do your laundry. You do not need ultra-clean hands to listen to audiobooks, so feel free to do all the dirty deeds you have been planning to do.
• Exercise. Whether you have a thing for yoga, treadmills, weights, jogging or dog walking, feel free to develop your brawn to that perfect shape you're aiming for. If you are thinking of holistic exercise, you will love the idea that listening to audiobooks will help you sharpen your listening skills and will allow you to work out your mind muscles as well.
• Primp for a date. You thrive in attention and one of the obvious ways to do so is to look as attractive as possible. Enjoy fitting a number of gowns, matching accessories and putting on your makeup. If you're using a CD player to listen to your audiobook, you can even do your hair sans impediments, and primp in front of the mirror as you please.
• Study with the lights out. Light is useful, but if for some weird reason you find yourself in a dark place and you badly need to do some lesson cramming, thank audiobooks. You'll get the best out of foreign language exercises and story summarizing which you can do without reading a thing. You'll get to enjoy your camping nights without forgetting your academic responsibilities. Think positive. You might get an A on your oral exams.
The list is not comprehensive. There are a number of things you can still do while listening to audiobooks. So, go ahead and deviate from page flipping once in a while. Don't let too many tasks queue up. Enjoy the multitasking convenience audiobooks have to offer.
