A Book's Advantages That Movies Simply Just Can't Copy

We've seen it before, and we've seen so much of it these days. It seems like more and more popular books are being offered movie deals to bring their stories into the big screen. However awesome and how groundbreaking this idea may be, many readers would find that the book is actually quite a whole lot better from that of the movie.

Readers of several books like Lord of the Flies, the Iliad, and many other classic books that have been given an on-screen adaptation usually find that these films didn't really give their respective books much justice. So what do books have that movies don't? Some of these advantages can be clearly seen. And for a few of these, you'll have to take a closer look for you to go and say, “ohhhh yeah, that's right.”

1. The entire story and all its parts are undoubtedly portrayed better than that in the movies.

Have you ever noticed any movie that somehow cuts or does away with some really good and important parts of a book? If you have, you may have pointed out at some of the more recent movies like Troy and many others wherein they omitted some really good parts written and yet they chose not to portray it on film.

Books, in very many ways, have the luxury of not being subjected to producers or movie studios to cut or omit what they find inappropriate or just too darn expensive. So like if you read J.R.R Tolkien's “Lord of The Rings” books, you'll find that you get to know and read about this world that's entirely different from ours down to the strength of the wind or how green the grass is in some far away field. With books, you get to enjoy reading all the glorious hundreds of pages that have somehow lost their way to the big screen.

2. All the great lines and scenes are perfectly written, and they don't need actors or actresses to read them – just a reader with a willing pair of eyes.

There are so many great lines and other things that one can come across when reading a book. So many in fact, that we could coin these lines at some point in our lives. The beauty about reading it in a book is that it can't be badly portrayed since it's already written. There have been several movies in the past where some famous lines have been squandered due to the lack of the talent of an actor. You don't need to worry about this with books; all you need to think about is when you have the time to read it and how well you understand it.

3. You can pick up a book, read it, and eventually put it down for you to continue at some other time of your choosing.

With books, you're not tied down for several hours having to look at this huge screen in a dark room. You can read books wherever you want, whenever you want. And there is nothing stopping you from pausing from reading if you choose to.
