It is believed that in order to have a good foundation in reading the love for it should start as early as possible meaning it should start when one is still young. 2. Pirates and the Sea. Again, an adventure is every little boy's weakness. Stories about pirates and sea creatures will surely glue your child to his chair while the both of you read along. Boys seem to be fascinated by the sea and everything that has something to do with it. They love hearing pirate stories because these are really adventure filled stories. They also love reading about great white sharks and whales.

3. Space. Going to the unknown. Little boys may be fascinated by people going to space and walking on the moon, so space stories would surely catch their attention as well. 4. Animals. Boys are naturally animal lovers. Read to them books about elephant, tigers, lions and monkeys and you will surely awaken the animal hunter within your little one.

The key to having your little boy sit down and read is to find a topic or story that is interesting for him. Giving him something so girly will surely appal him. Give him stories on adventure or any of those listed above and he will surely be glued to his seat.
